OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY
 
Health and Safety Policy
It is the ongoing commitment of management at Calibre Personnel Solutions Pty Ltd, to provide and manage, a working environment, that is safe, and without risks to health, for all employees.
Through this commitment, our Occupational Health and Safety Officer, and Return to Work Coordinator will be fully involved in maintaining workplace health and safety.
The importance of consultation and co-operation between management and employees will make sure that all workplace hazards and/ or risks will be immediately addressed, and our main objectives can be put into action with training in, and communication of, health and safety procedures and practices.
We are also committed to regular monitoring and review of current policies and procedures, to maintain their highest effectiveness, and to ensure that all employees of Calibre Personnel Solutions Pty Ltd can continue to work in a safe and healthy environment.
 
Alcohol & Drug Policy and Procedures
  • Company policy requires all employees to be drug and alcohol free, in the performance of their duties.
  • Should any employee be under the influence of either substancel, our office must be notified and:
    • An Occupational Health and Safety Officer will come to the site.
    • Talk to, and ask the person to perform simple aptitude tests, to determine if allegations are correct.
    • Request person attends company doctor for relevant medical tests.
    • lf agreed OH&S Officer will accompany person to doctor.
    • Should test prove positive, it is a requirement that person attend approved drug or alcohol rehabilitation before they will be considered for employment again.
 
Register of Injuries
Should any employee be injured in the course of their duties, the Occupational Hea1th and Safety procedure must be followed:
  • Report injury to supervisor immediately.
  • OH&S Officer to be contacted, and will attend site.
  • Injury register at company to be completed and signed by employee and supervisor.
  • Further action will be taken, as deemed necessary by OH&S Officer.
 
Rehabilitation
If any employee should be severely injured while in the performance of their duties for Calibre, and be unable to attend work for some time, they will undertake appropriate rehabilitation and/or therapy to return to work. All services provided will be recommended, by the company doctor, and the Victorian Workcover Authority. All rehabilitation will be discussed and explained in our Occupational Health and Safety Policy and procedures.
 
Protective Clothing
  • Safety boots are to be worn at all times and on all sites.
  • Safety vests must be worn on sites which require them to be. Other protective clothing ie: glasses, gloves, overalls, full suits, are to be worn if required, when working with either hazardous or non-hazardous chemicals, in conjunction with the site policy on protective clothing.
  • Should, in a situation, you feel you require protective clothing, and the client refuses to supply that particular protective item, under no circumstances are you to begin that specific task. Contact the Calibre OH&S Officer immediately for information and further instructions on what to do.
 
Risk management & occupational rehabilitation program.
Calibre Personnel Solutions is committed to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all workers.
In the event of a work related injury we will take all necessary steps to ensure that the injury does not happen again.
Should one of our workers incur a work related injury that means they are unable to continue their normal work we will provide the necessary assistance for them to remain at work, or return to work as soon as it is safely possible (where practicable).
We will do this through risk management and occupational rehabilitation and our commitments are as follows.
 
Occupational rehabilitation program
Calibre Personnel Solutions will:
  • Assist our injured workers to remain a work or return to work at the earliest opportunity, where practicable.
  • Our comprehensive return to work policy is as follows:
  • Return to work planning will commence as soon as possible after an injury and in consideration of prevailing medical opinion.
  • Remaining at work or an early return to work following injury is a normal expectation of this workplace, where practicable.
 
Return to work plans.
Our injured workers and their treating practitioners Will be involved in all aspects of their return to work and return to work plans will be developed and reviewed in consultation with them.
Occupational rehabilitation program.
This program was developed in consultation with our workforce through the site safety committee. Following discussions and consultation with our workplace the program was endorsed by the safety committee and senior management on (date)
 
Commitment.
This program represents our commitment to workplace occupational rehabilitation and return to work following work related injury. As representative of its development and our mutual commitment, this program is endorsed by a Workers' representative and a Management representative.
This program will be reviewed: at intervals of six months commencing six months after the date on which this program has been endorsed
